HISTORY: Tamara Jones was a lifeguard at a local beach, where one day she spotted a piece of debris splash into the water from somewhere overhead. Unaware this debris was from Imperator'crashing ship, she went to investigate the debris for public safety reasons. Pulling it from the water, she was irradiated and her genetic make-up changed. That night, she found herself unable to sleep and went for a walk to try and tire herself out. She was attacked by street thugs and found she could fire solar blasts from her hands, repelling her would-be attackers. Soon afterwards, she was approached by Starr who convinced her to become a superheroine and fight against Imperator's crimes.
