Shadow Girl really hated to be working on Christmas Eve, but some criminals didn’t have the decency to take the season off, so neither could she. This string of houses had been particularly victimized in the last few weeks as someone had broken in and stolen all sorts of intended gifts.

Mostly upper middle-class people lived in this neighborhood, and most were at the local church participating in the Christmas Eve service. It had almost been canceled, but the HOTTIEs assured the residents one of them would be patrolling the area twenty-four hours a day until the twenty-sixth. Due to the nature of their powers, Shadow Girl and NiteGlow alternated the night shifts, and tonight was Shadow Girl’s night.
